* Mitigating 401(k) Plan Fiduciary LiabilityMitigating 401(k) Plan Fiduciary Liability

Time: 10:00 am

Source: Association of Washington Business This event is at the Association of Washington Business As an employer and sponsor of a 401(k) plan, your company shoulders significant responsibility. Fiduciaries can be held personally responsible for the plans they oversee, making it critical that you take appropriate steps to reduce potential liability. Over the past year, the Department of Labor (DOL) has put forth great effort to promote compliance among retirement plans. Its enforcement efforts for fiscal year 2010 resulted in the collection of a staggering $1.05 billion through plan restorations, fines and penalties —and we can expect those numbers to grow. In 2010, the DOL added nearly 1,000 employees, with the majority focused on encouraging and enforcing compliance among plan. This educational workshop will provide a best practices review and overview of ERISA fiduciary responsibilities that will help you optimize your company’s 401(k) plan. You’ll learn about the current issues facing plan sponsors as well as the federal rules regarding proper administration and oversight of qualified plans. You will have an opportunity to share your concerns with the presenters who are professionals experienced in investments, fiduciary oversight, administration, operation and compliance. Agenda includes: - Sample audits issues from DOL - 404(c) fiduciary liability and abatement - Current trends and future legislation related to 401k Plans - New fee reporting regulations Who Should Attend? Human resource managers, benefits administrators, payroll managers, plan administrators, controllers, CFOs, finance directors, accountants, presidents, vice presidents, business and office managers, and attorneys. Speakers Andy Cameron, Department of Labor Mr. Cameron is a Benefits Advisor at the United States Department of Labor, Employee Benefit Security Administration (EBSA). Andy advises both participants and plan sponsors on a wide range of health and retirement plan issues. Andy regularly speaks to public and private organizations about HIPAA, COBRA and relevant retirement plan regulations.
