Green Marketing: Southsound Green Tour

This year CVM has a new partner in the 2nd Annual South Sound Green Tour!  It’s a community-wide educational event planned for April 16 & 17, Earth Day weekend.  The Tour will showcase the “greenest” homes, buildings and businesses in our community, and demonstrate the financial sense and environmental benefit of sustainable design and construction.

The Green Tour is not just an educational event, but also a marketing and sales opportunity for participating businesses.  Last year’s Tour attracted an average of 175 visitors per site, 36,000 website visits, and new business leads for the architects, builders,  contractors and suppliers involved.  Extensive media coverage included two front-page articles in the Olympian, dozens of radio spots and an interview on KGY, plus Tour Guides distributed in 30,000 copies of the paper.

The event presents a unique opportunity for businesses to distinguish themselves as leaders in the local “Green Economy.”  This year’s tour will create an even bigger buzz, with more sites, more advertising and media coverage and a proven successful model.

One way local companies can get involved is by exhibiting in the Green Tour EcoExpo at the LOTT CleanWater Alliance LEED Platinum (pending) building.  The EcoExpo will have vendor booths, exhibits and demonstrations, plus kids’ activities with the Hands On Children’s Museum.  There will also be a “Going Green Transit Stop” with transportation choices sponsored by InterCity Transit.
